Student Attendance/Absence of Pupils
Absence Documentation
-
Upon returning to school after an absence, students must submit a written excuse stating the reason for the absence.
-
The parent or guardian of record must sign the note.
-
If a note is not submitted within three (3) school days, the absence will be marked as unexcused and may be considered truancy.
Cumulative Absences
-
Students are allowed up to ten (10) days of lawful absences verified by a parent/guardian note per school year.
-
After the 10th day, additional absences must be excused with an Upper Darby School District Explanation of Absence form or a note from a licensed physician.
Religious Holidays
-
Absences for religious observance are excused with a written request from a parent or guardian, submitted in advance of the holiday.
Important Reminder
.
Lateness to School
All students arriving late to school must report to their designated center before going to homeroom or any class.
-
After five (5) latenesses, students will receive a lunch detention.
-
A second lunch detention will be issued at ten (10) latenesses.
-
For every additional 10 latenesses (i.e., 20, 30, etc.), students will receive a Saturday detention.
Only a physician’s note, bus late pass, or approval from the Assistant Principal will be accepted to excuse a lateness.
Early Dismissals
